The Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) requires that the plan’s financial statements are audited in line with Generally Accepted Auditing Standards when the plan surpasses 100 eligible participants, and that they are presented in line with the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles specifically for employee benefit plans.
